We need your help.
It’s easy to take clean drinking water for granted. We live in Canada, after all.
Yet, 20% of First Nations communities can’t drink water from their taps. In Ontario, 40% of First Nations are under a boil water advisory — twice the national average.
The water crisis in First Nations communities in Canada is unacceptable.
And it’s difficult to imagine how to make it right. However, there is a solution that’s working — one person and one community at a time. Water First has been working together with First Nations communities to build capacity locally, collaborating to address both drinking water and environmental water concerns. And we have seen the impact. Real long-term solutions that increase knowledge and skills — benefiting both individuals and communities.
It’s our approach that sets us apart. If we want to have clean water in Indigenous communities, we need to do things differently. OUR PROGRAMS ARE IT!
The problem is big. And it requires investments. While the government funds many elements of our work, it doesn’t fund the time it takes to develop relationships, establish trust, learn from local community members and adapt local approaches. And that’s why we need your support.
