Sheshegwaning First Nation

As an added component of our Water First Internship, water-science workshops were delivered to a combination of six public and reserve schools on Manitoulin and Birch Island. Local interns from each community attended workshops to showcase their learning by assisting in various hands-on activities, as well as explaining the significance of their training to the students. In our final workshop in Sheshegwaning First Nation, students were given a guided tour of their community’s water treatment plant by their local intern, and were able to learn real-life applications of the content explored within their workshops, as well as the infrastructure of their community’s drinking water systems.
